THE BLOOMR ROOM EDIT 01 / LIVING ROOM
A living room
for real life.
Start with the seat you love, then make room for daily life. These ideas will help you choose furniture, lighting and finishing details that work together in your space.
A simple plan for seating, surfaces, light and the details that make a room yours.
THE SEATING PLAN
Begin with
where you sit.
Choose a sofa that suits the room and the way you gather. Face it toward the view, conversation or television that matters most. An armchair can make a second, quieter place to read.
Before buying, mark the furniture footprint on the floor. Check that doors open fully and people can walk around the seating without squeezing past it.
Leave enough room for the everyday moments: a book, a cup of coffee, a conversation, and an easy way through.
Make the middle
work harder.
A coffee table gives the seating group a centre. Keep it useful with a tray for smaller objects, one piece with height, and open space for the things you use each day.
If the walkway is narrow, use a smaller table or a pair of side tables. Let the shape and finish echo something already in the room, from the sofa legs to a nearby lamp.
SURFACE / SHAPE / SPACE
LIGHT / AFTER DARK
Light the room
in layers.
Overhead lighting is useful, but it rarely makes a room feel settled on its own. Put a floor lamp by a reading seat and a table lamp where you want a softer glow in the evening.
Look at the room after sunset before choosing positions. Notice dark corners, glare on screens and the places where you naturally reach for a book or a drink.
Finish with
what you love.
Let a rug define the seating area, then add texture with cushions and a few objects worth keeping close. One floral arrangement can bring colour to a coffee table or console without filling every surface.
Repeat a material or colour in two or three places, then stop. The space left around your favourite pieces is part of the design.
